Re: 1971 170 Aquasport Rebuild

Pulling string lines works great. I measure down the line in 1 ft increments and measure down to cut the rough shape. Works well

Re: 1971 170 Aquasport Rebuild

Hey Rick, I am doing my second 17 mako right now so know what you are going through. Couple thoughts from me. I think cutting the stringer down 2 inches would be ok as typically 4 -6 inch tall stringers are saficient. You need several more layers of 1708 to get the strength you need though. If I rea...

Re: FREE 17 MAKO

Thanks Joel. The infusion process is preaty cool. I haven't quite profected it but getting there. Tried the first two parts using the marine epoxy but did not have the flow media. I think the viscosity is too high. Tried calling you to get your thoughts but it sounded like you were out slacken off. ...

Re: FREE 17 MAKO

Re: Seacraft 23 - shine

Joel,

Looks really good! It is unreal how far the paint goes. I could two coat my Bertram hull with less than two quarts. are you going to spray the non skid? Rolling that is tough. What latches are you using on the hatches? If you covered that before no problem.

Re: FREE 17 MAKO

Wanted to share some progress. Got the aft deck put together. The two small compartments at the transome will be baitwells/coolers. The larger compartments are storage which will be separated in the middle. The hatch gutters were made from the mold which I showed earlier and the hatches themselves w...

Re: FREE 17 MAKO

Thanks Larry,

I remeber back in an aero propullsion class I took there was a conversion but that was for an engine moving air. I would think the design guides for boats might provide that?

Joel,

Any idea what kind of force (thrust) a 90 hp motor puts out? I can dig in my brain cell to conver hp to thrust but I thought I would ask first.
