Re: Ski Nautique stringer replacement

Peter, So far it has worked out well. I followed Jaques advice from a post a couple years ago. I did not wind up doing it like the photo above. Instead I took a piece of melameen (2'x4') and sprayed it down with PVA. I then rolled gelcoat on it (went with polyester for speed and cost). I layed up tw...

Re: Ski Nautique stringer replacement

Getting the front sole ready to install. Layed out the front seat locations and marked the hole locations on the swivel pedastools. I then used the technique Joel schooled me on. I drilled 1" holes at each mount loactions thru the floor. I then filled the holes with thickened epoxy (milled fiber wit...

Re: Ski Nautique stringer replacement

Did some more on the boat this weekend. Getting the front sole ready to install. Foamed in the the battery box, air ducts and rigging chases. The duct is 3" dia. reinforced plastic pipe that I bought from a company that sells it for dust collect or fume venting. This is the place if anyone is intere...

Re: Ski Nautique stringer replacement

Chief, I don't think 100 lbs makes any real difference. I am using the tanks for fresh water washdown only. Don't like the salty feeling. Some more pics. Floors in place http://gallery.bateau2.com/albums/userpics/14945/DSC01006.JPG My nonskid mold. New experiment to see if I can duplicate the factor...

Re: Ski Nautique stringer replacement

Making some progress. More Photos to follow. This is the epoxy bed that will tie the sole to the stringers and bulkheads. The two big holes in the transome in pic 2 are the dive plateform bolt holes. Over drilled them and am going to fill them with epoxy and miled fiberglass. I have made a couple ha...

Measured, templeted and cut my rear floor panels tonight. Also put the first coat of epoxy on the underside to seal them.

Re: Ski Nautique stringer replacement

Joel, The sand was not real wet so it came right out with air. You could really cast any void that you want into the foam. I am ready to get the floor back in this puppy. On another note I did post on Correct Craft Fan.com Joel so hopefully those guys will take a look at this site ==>http://www.corr...

Re: Ski Nautique stringer replacement

Thanks Larry! The one smart idea I come up with every now and again is over balaced by the dump mistakes that I usually make
