Re: The Plytanic 2.0 - FS17 Build

Wow, so sorry to see that. I used EMC on the little SK14 and had such a different experience. Makes me wonder what's goin on with the stuff. I know I'd take a week off at least to re-group. It's cosmetic and fixable for sure, the cost being time and/or money. At my stage in life I'd give thought to ...

Re: Lm18 madison wi

That first cut on your pretty build would be hard for me too. It would be a huge project for me 'cuz I struggle with the engine control/steering stuff but I've no doubt you'll be very happy with the console control when finished.

Re: Aft storage compartments humming

Maybe those two for/aft bulkheads walling in the battery are vibrating? I'd wedge something between 'em, like a clamp reversed to push or even a couple of sticks forced in. Or someone to hold their hand in places when underway. Seems like that'd isolate the sound and then maybe your rubber type pain...

I'd want my throttle easy to hand when standing, as that's what I naturally do in any extra attention situations, like docking, rocks, stumps, etc.

Re: Going with Kiwi Grip Nautolex marine vinyl flooring SUCKS!!

I used Kiwigrip on two builds and would again. Only problem was when I didn't sand over S3 primer much. I either forgot to sand or just touched some of it a bit with 220 can't remember, then rolled on with some several year old left over Kiwi. Wasn't enough tooth and the stuff peeled right off. Othe...

Re: Mike Schwind's SK14 Build

I just used SYP (pine) from the box store (HD) for my rub rail. It's got a coat or two of epoxy then three coats of Cetol. I don't know about Cypress, but bet it would be nice

Re: Mike Schwind's SK14 Build

Well that's a bummer. I would clamp the rub rail on first to see if that takes care of it. I suspect it will. If not I might cut out a wedge of foam to relieve the pressure. First would be to clamp on the rail though.

Re: Mike Schwind's SK14 Build

No I think that'll be great. My 5 hp just runs me at 12mph or so. You'll do better. I carry a double paddle too and can maneuver and poke along with that as well.

Re: Mike Schwind's SK14 Build

Nice! I like mine plenty and put a Minn Kota riptide with spotlock on the nose and a propane Tohatsu 5hp on the stern. I didn't build a seat into it and wish I had. What do you plan on power?
