It is an ester product. Despite letting my epoxy fully cure, washing, sanding and then washing again I have gotten spotty cure every time I have tried it over epoxy.

That is why it is tough to build small welded aluminium boats and keep them light. Mostly what I see is boats built with heavier skins just so they do not have to fight it so much.

The holes are not too big to fill. Put some tape on the outside to keep it from falling through. I think I would mix up a mash with glass fibers in it for this work. I know it sucks but you are doing the right thing by getting rid of all the spots with lousy glass work.
