Re: texasrds OD18 build mid-coast Texas

Randy, I did the stringers on my OD-18 the same way for the same reason. Only thing different is I just used a full 2x4. A little more weight but it gives a lot of glueing surface for the sole. I spilt a 2x4 in half and used that for the bulkheads and ribs. Lets those of us with bad wood cutting ski...

Nice way to look at it. I enjoy all the extra banter! What brand is the reel? I am always looking for input for new/better gear.

Re: A Cracker built FS18

Larry,
Was that skeg just glued on? If so I am glad to know they stick so well. I read your praise of the multi-tool before starting my build and it has been a huge help. Thanks for letting us know about it.

Larry,
Every time I see pictures of your boat I think to myself "That is not a boat, it is a work of art" You sure have every reason in the world to be proud of your boat!

I love the look of the Panga's and yours might just be the nicest one I have seen yet! You are doing some outstanding work. Keep posting pictures for us, boat porn you know :P

Re: Alaska OD-18

Well I have faired until I can take it no longer so I flipped her over and am working on the inside for a while. I will still need to turn the boat bad over and finish the job but my thought was this way is better than painting before it was really ready. So now I have questions for the Pro's here. ...

Re: nawlin's od 18

Very nice looking work! I am building an OD-18 also. Looks like we are both in about the same place. From what I can see you are doing some very good, clean work. Keep it going. Oh, and you are going to just love the fairing

Re: Alaska OD-18

Larry,
You have the AZ boat if I remember correct. If so that thing is way too pretty to let it touch anything but water! I would be afraid to take it out and use it  My boats have to be built for abuse. I tend to run over and hit stuff :(

My thought is with the skeg bottom being 3/4 inch of fiberglass and graphite mixed together it should be able to take a ton of abuse and still be ok. I guess we will see how that all works out.
