Re: My dog ate my homework...

That's all right, Larry.

He's 19 months old, now. 5 more months to go, if according to the old rumors about retrievers that they "Chew 'till their two, and shed 'till their dead.."

My dog ate my homework...

Egg-sucking dog pulled the page of my plans that has, rather HAD the dimensions for the rudder, daggerboard, tiller, and daggerboard trunk and shredded it whilst I napped yesterday. My second D5 build. I can still read the dimensions for the rudder and daggerboard trunk, but he consumed the top of t...

Re: Anyone Fishing?

I didn't know FL had large scallops like that. Must have been very deep if off Florida. When I returned to central Florida after a stint in the Air Force, my first job was at a seafood processing plant at Port Canaveral.... a far cry from my last base land-locked in Oklahoma! At first in those days...

Re: First trip of the early spring season

Awesome post/report, Steven. I spent some years in both Texas and Oklahoma, in my younger Air Force days. I'm thinking of loading the boat this morning and heading to Port Canaveral and doing the Cobia "Run & Gun".... :D

Re: Can the Caravelle be rowed effectively?

The Caravell is a great big boat, about two times the capacity of the Sharpie and she feels like a 16' boat BUT the beam is a little too wide to row comfortably. You can have her fitted with oars to maneuver in and out of the harbor but not to row any distance. Thanks for the reply, Jacques. Kind o...

Can the Caravelle be rowed effectively?

I long to get back to sailing... For several weeks now I have been studying all the available plans, as well as builder's individual builds. I'm the type of guy that well, if I'm going to buy a hammer, I study hammers and what folks say about their purchases and prices. That said, I have never heard...

Re: I'm Back.....

Perhaps I should build the FS 12. I remember that excellent tutorial on that from you, Joel...years back. I followed it in earnest! I have not built a boat yet on a strongback, but having built the D5, I feel it to be the next logical step. I would be lying to say that money isn't somewhat "tight".....

I'm Back.....

...and the BBV is kickin' in. Long story, short. Lost job. Complex foreclosure. Bank takeover. Hired by 'reciever" to help with complex and other foreclosures. Sold boats. Sold my soul. (almost). Lost friends. Got back friends lost. New job. In Micco. (Sebastian) Moved to Sebastian. Have house, two ...

Re: 1977 Robalo 20

I was hoping to be able to chime in here. I know it's been a while, guys....but I had the rebuild thread on a '78 Robalo a few years ago. I have since given that project away. The stringers on your '77 Robalo end at the live-well in the floor. There are only the two, beefy stringers...one of which y...
