My D5 here in Brevard actually looks like a boat! Had no trouble stitching the side panels to the transoms, and it does look like some trimming of Frame "A" is in order for me as well. It being Florida, and Dec when I ordered my epoxy kit I went ahead and ordered the Split kit (3 gallon), with Fast ...

You're about a day or two ahead of me....I start stitching this morning. I wonder if that "bending" problem can be attributed to you using the fir instead of Meranti? 'Course, if you went with 4mm like you stated earlier why wouldn't it bend to meet the bow?? Guess I'll be wondering that myself in a...

I don't think it's a crazy idea. I had a friend years ago with a smallish 14 foot skiff with twin 18 HP Evinrudes ...both tiller....on it. One of them was 'specially cranky. He would practically lay down on that stern seat and work the tiller/throttle with his left bare foot on the Port side motor (...

Hmmm. All three of you have provoked some very interesting thought! Some few years ago, methinks 1999 (Hurricane Irene) this boat was slipped at a restaurant in South Sebastian when the 'cane hit. That year was the year for Dennis & Floyd, followed by Irene. I put her on "Hurricane Island" (near Hir...

Outboard engine bracket...

Has anyone ever tried to build one out of marine ply? I have a late 70's 20 foot Robalo that has a new enclosed transom, but I find the four-figure cost of an aluminum transom bracket prohibitive. I desperately need to finish restoring this boat after completing my D5, 'cause blue water calls. It us...

Mercy! Thanks for the kwick replies.... methinks I still have a few days. I just got back from my shop after some sanding and epoxing the oars/paddles I started days ago...damn they look nice! I may be a newbie to boat building....but not to epoxy. Although....I know now there is still more to learn...

A new Circular Saw for Chri....uh... New Years!

Everyone got a favorite? I've decided that the "must have" list has to include that little window which one can view the blade hitting the plywood. A laser would be nice, too. Do I really need 15 amps? A co-worker worked at Home Depot before coming here, and he advised to get the saw AFTER Christmas...
