Re: AD 14 KIELGE

Hallo Bondo, Thanks for the encouragement to finish the Petrel. BTW I am not building he Little Petrel, but the Micro Petrel this saved me from having to scarf plywood on my first boat building experience. Being retired from my job as IT manager I can spend all my time building if I would not have t...

Re: Question before building an Adelie14 or 16

Hallo Hank,
Thanks for Your advice to find out my requirements in the foreseeable future.
Therefore I have decided on an AD14. Small but big enough for 2 and performance in sailing is anyway low on my list.
Greetings from Karl ( Austria )

Re: AD16 Karenina

Hallo Stuff, Thank You very much for the advise about the height of AD14/16. I will build it in the garage and store on the trailer there and while I am waiting to get the plans i have a look at Your marvellous interior work You have done on Your boat. I hope I will come to the same high quality lev...

Re: AD 14 KIELGE

Hallo Bondo, Thank You for Your reply. The number 142 is for sure the height keelshoe to top. This would mean if I build in my shed I can get it sideways out thru a 150 cm door but just by the skin of my teeth. It is too close. I will use the shed for cutting all the plywood, building rudder, center...

AD16 Trailer weight question to Jaques Mertens

Hallo Jaques, Please can You tell me if the specified trailer weight ( 640 pounds on the study plan ) is the gross weight for the finished boat ? Does it include the 350 pounds of ballast of the CB keel and bilges ? From the BOM I calculate a weight of 440 pounds for the 22 plywood panels ( Okoume a...

Re: Question before building an Adelie14 or 16

Dear Jaques Merten and all other Boatbuilder collegues,

Thank You very much for Your helpful answers. Unfortuunatenly I will not be able to build the Vagabond 18 because it would also be too big for my garage. Right now it is still a tossup in my mind between ADELIE 14 or 16.

Fl12 panel cutting

I have the panels drawn on a 4 by 8 foot sheet of plywood. Does it make sense to clamp a second plywood sheet underneath and saw the parts I need double in one go ? ( I have a new circular saw and a good jigsaw which should manage to cut easyly
thru 12 mm thick wood. )

Question before building an Adelie14 or 16

Right now I am building the FL12 as an exersize in boatbuilding. But in my head all the questions are already about the Adelie14 or 16. I have 3 Questions to AD14 or AD16 : 1. Is it possible to accomodate a porta potti in such a small sailing boat ? ( My wife wants this question cleared before I may...

Re: Plastic tie wraps

Dear Wegcagle !

I thought it should be done like You described it to me, but You gave me the
confirmation. As a first time boatbuilder I am just not so sure if my thinking is correct.
Thanks very much for the advice.
