Re: Paint Questions.

Any idea when the system three will be available? Also just to be clear, if we're using bottom paint we should not use graphite? Also for fairing, have you heard anything about straight-line sanders (the torture of fairing is getting to us).

Paint Questions.

So as we get closer and closer to the painting stage, we've started looking at our different options. So far we're thinking thinking about either the system three or sterling topcoat, what are some pros/cons of both? Also the boat will be spending 8 weeks at a mooring in the pacific northwest, so wh...

Re: GV11. And so it begins...

That's what we did as well, if the foam doesn't get enough epoxy, it forms a brittle top layer which splinters whenever we tried to shape it

Re: Bow eye/ fairing question

For the GV 11 we used micro balloons, I just wasn't too sure if it was any different for a larger boat, I think I might re fair my GV11 this year as I noticed a low spot I had missed, I'm thinking I'll just use a square frame for flipping, so I'll install the bow eye after all the painting/ flip.

Bow eye/ fairing question

Okay, so now that I've install rubrails/sprayrails and the skeg, what are some tips for fairing etc I bought some quick fair, do I use that exclusively, or do I use that as a final coat sort of thing. Also, should I install the bow eye/ stern eyes before flipping?

Re: GV11. And so it begins...

I wouldn't suggest meddling with that foam, for us at least just filling the whole thing was awful, I can't imagine trying to shape the stuff in any way, what I would do if you're looking for rod storage is either use a hole saw and cut into the very top of the seat frames to make one rod holder per...

Re: GV11. And so it begins...

Mhopper, your boat looks good, are planning on adding foam to the seat frames? also looking at your previous photo, I would suggest making a small platform across the motor bracing supports, looks better, and is a good spot for a fuel tank, cooler etc. Another good mod is a small front locker built ...

Re: P19 build in Alberta

Made some progress yesterday, we managed to install the brains, spray rails and the skeg. For the rubrails we used some nice doug fir 1x2s joined together at the stern, to avoid having a sharp join near the bow. The spray rails were really easy to install with some 1 1/4 inch screws, they also have ...

Can the varnish adhere to a side that is fully saturated with epoxy?
