Re: Efficient cats

As you might have guessed, Jacques and I have been discussing your ideas over Christmas. It is a timely discussion as I have had others, besides yourself, interested in a outboard powered offshore fishing boat. As I said before I know nothing about fishing, while any design changes must match what y...

Re: Efficient cats

If you search for "Tohatsu fuel consumption" you will see their technical info page includes a list for the maximum fuel used for each engine in their range at WOT. Interestingly a 40hp is listed at 4.2gal/h, exactly the same as the 50hp. Jacques can post a direct link, I cannot I have twin 20hp on ...

Re: Efficient cats

For others who might be following this thread, this is what I replied "Thank you for your email I think the Skoota 20 is too small a boat for what you want, the hulls do not have enough displacement for the extra weight of twin 40hp plus 4 people. As you still need a cockpit floor the only saving ov...

Re: Efficient cats

I did previously contact Mr Woods regarding if it was possible to build the Skoota as an open deck fishing boat instead of building all that cabin work but he declined to respond. I do apologise for not responding. I always try to answer all emails as promptly as possible, but sometimes I lapse whe...

Re: CR13 sail plan

You could always use this technique https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NTmSIdhssU They do it in a 16ft Wayfarer so casually that the only mention in this report http://threeriversrace.org.uk/index.php5?title=Keith_Darby_2009 is to say "Potter Heigham bridge next. Had a good sail to the bridge which wa...

Re: Port Aransas plyWooden Boat Festival

I only just read this post, sorry. I was one of the four judges at PA and I have to apologise to those down on the docks. You are right, we didn't get down there so you didn't feature in the judging. It was really hard choosing the "Best of Show" as we basically all had different top 10's - there we...

Re: PX14 Beach Cat question

That's great news! Thank you

As you read PBO you should check out the February 2015 issue (available by Christmas I think?!) as it has a "Why sail a catamaran" article that I wrote in it.

Hope you have a great Christmas and 2015

Re: PX14 Beach Cat question

Great to hear of your interest in my Pixie design. Please bear with us as we sort out the design pages and the information that will be shown. Just to confirm Jacques comments. Yes everything is there in the plans, I have built/owned one, and maybe 1000 sets of plans have been sold. Many have been b...

Re: Instant downloads or printed plans?

Posts already!! I use Slimpdf reader rather than the very bloated adobe original. I have found the supplied free Windows programs open all the files formats I have. On another forum I wrote "Traditionally building plans were drawn on large sheets of paper as that was easier for the designer. But not...

Re: Richard Woods multihulls at bateau.com

I'm excited too! Although we've known each other for years online and I have used many gallons of his epoxy (a great product BTW) for several projects, Jacques and I first met in person a few weeks ago at the Port Aransas WBF. We quickly became friends and simply shook hands on a deal. It's so easy ...
