Re: ST21 'Skinnydip' build, and boating adventures, Noosa, Australia

GB, have you used RTV before? It’s a silicon based “liquid gasket” that I’ve used quite a bit in automotive engines and gear boxes. I know folks here use it here (Charleston) and I’ve not seen failures unless improperly applied. Here in the states a tube is less than a standard oil cover gasket for ...

Did you gut it before cooking it 8O
I’m trying to think of any conditions which one would not clean the fish prior to cooking. I have none. Is there some fish you all don’t clean up there?

Re: plyak FG cloth question

Two layers of 2oz would be better. You NEED to over lap the edges if you use 2’ wide strips which would be a fairing nightmare.

Re: Roman´s OB15 (First Time Builder)

The first sentence in the GB section indicates that it is correct. Specifically
* closed cell
* floatation
Jeff might ask Jacques to weigh in on the density specifications but I’m pretty sure that foam will do the job.

Re: What small sailboat under 17 has a kickup rudder.

Google for plans. You can convert any of the JM to the kick up with a little planning. I haven’t done mine yet but hope to make it happen this fall.

Re: Coach's SC-16 in MA

go hang out at any boat ramp... 95% of the boats you will see make Fuzz and Jaysen quality finishes look like they were done by pros. I think finishes are about the builder more than about the boat. Not that there is anything wrong with taking pride in the work, but ... if it floats and goes, you've...

Re: Pinhole factory

I know you said it is not too dry, but I Only saw that when I made it ... too dry. Specifically too much cabosil. I don’t measure like you do (because lazy) but I would say I was closer to 1:10 cab to balloon and then 1/4c mix to 2oz epoxy. It was closer to peanut butter (glue) than frosting (fairin...

My neighbor (build site) is assisting with his resources in wholesale lumber. Once we get a couple quotes and compare actual weights I’ll report back.

Re: Jaysen's Mini 580 plan

The 22mm is the minimum width for the one design racing. The build specifies pine. So I have to use the same dimensions but can use “stronger” materials as I desire. I just can’t reduce dimensions. It’s going to come down to availability and price. The more the mill needs to hand sort and reject boa...
