Re: GV10 Stop and Start Project

Why do it proper when you can just hope it doesn't cactus?

All us US based folks just learned about cactus from Glossyblack and barraman. Hope I used that right.

Re: Help me pick a boat, please!

It's to end up with a good looking boat that would cost less than buying new and refurbishing! Not going to happen unless you skimp on materials or finish. There are always cheap production boats that look good and need minimal work. Even with Little Bit I could have bought a bigger or better saili...

Re: GV10 Stop and Start Project

Well, maybe I’m lazy, but don’t you only need to check the welds? Creative “tipping” would let you put a much smaller amount of water in the boat (cover the weld).

Just an idea.

Re: SH14 Starting a new Sharpie called Little Mae

I’ve seen a shock cord used to hold the board down. That allows the board to “bounce up” on impact. There are some examples online if you search google.

Re: knottyBuoyz III The TW28 Project

wait... I can't ride out a hurricane 10mi out (only 30-60' here) with 100' chain and 300' poly? You go first. Write and tell us what happened. I've already decided that any "riding out of hurricane" will involve trip up the creeks, 3 anchors, and good insurance. If I'm on a cruise there will be a p...

Re: knottyBuoyz III The TW28 Project

You don't need more than 7/1 if you know how to anchor, unless you're riding out a hurricane, and then you're hosed anyway. wait... I can't ride out a hurricane 10mi out (only 30-60' here) with 100' chain and 300' poly? BTW, on land, you can take a shower in a tropical storm but not in a cat 2. The...

Re: knottyBuoyz III The TW28 Project

Tony, there’s some “deep sh!t” in the Great Lakes. So deep that you would need a volume of rope too large if you’re using a 10:1 anchor strategy. My suspicion is that using all chain you don’t need 10:1 (I thought I read 3:1 or 4:1) which would enable 100’ anchorage. Please correct me if there’s som...

Re: Corsair 13 in Metairie LA

I did... Next build i will do it before paint. Why? Because I wound up with "epoxy goop" all over the place. Sure i'm sloppy. But drips happen. So does stuff running out of the hole (even though it was super thick). then you have to sand all that crap off when means you have to paint it. Then you ha...
