Thx shine, I did end up grinding down the transom. I wasnt planning on gluing the cap, just in case I need to get in there I dont want it to be a nightmare. The cap now fits, but sorry I think I mislead you all on my question. I was wondering if I am loosing strength/support at the transom? Because ...

That was part of it(where the arrow is pointing). I had to cut that down about 2 inches and had to cut it at an angle. The main part taht got in the way was the long length of the transom. See in the pic where the black cable is passing over. That section, it is about 4 feet across. Because the wood...

Last question if I may! I am putting the Cap/Top of the boat back on this sunday. I did not replace the two sections of the floor I removed that were taped to the transom/sides. I removed the wood to gain access to the old transom and replace it as well as replace the foam that was under those floor...

Heres the Fix for any of you out there that faces this in the future. I did basically what TomW said. I was able to talk to a friendly person at the DMV and she said to go to a local DMV Plate office and say: I need to apply for a VIN for a Custom Trailer. I did just that and got an application for ...

DOH! Opps.. I did something similar on my Bomber Rebuild. When I was removing the old Transom Core I used a Drill to get in a tight spot and DOH! out the bottom the drill bit went. Epoxyed it up and all is well.

Epoxy is some sweet stuff.

I think it is worth rebuilding. I have a Trihull and I am almost complete with my rebuild/repair. It cost about $400 - $500 total. Cheaper then buying a new boat. But you do have to weight the options and cost.

Check out the Thread. "Transom Strength" :D
