FS17 Central FL Build - 1st Timer

Hello All! So after speaking with both Jeff and Reid I’ve ordered and received the plans to begin on my 1st boat building endeavor. I’ve got some wood working skills but am by no means an expert. I’ve built some furniture and have done some custom closets and accent walls but that’s about it. My pri...

Re: Narfi's FS17 - Build Thread

Narfi! I just spent the past 3 says off and on reading through your thread and I am super impressed with your build! I hope my build looks half as good as yours! Cheers man, can’t wait to see this thing finished!

The “Must haves” list

So I’ll be ordering my kit here in the next month or so. Going with either the FS17 or the OD16. More so leaning towards the OD16 currently. It’ll be my first build so I’m wanting to get everything sorted and bought before hand for the most part. So I’ve come to to you folks and I ask... “What are s...

Re: FS14 Tiller Console

Yeah Piper I’m 6’3 so I’ll be building the strongback fairly high. When it comes to the time I need to flip it l, I plan to purchase the trailer and have it set on that to finish it out.

Re: FS14 Tiller Console

It’ll be my first time taking a crack at this whole boat building thing. So I’m a bit nervous but am also confident it’ll be a great experience. I don’t have any timelines so it’ll take as long as it takes and it’ll be done right the first time. :) I’ve been reading tons of build threads as well as ...

Re: FS14 Tiller Console

Very nice Narfi! Yeah I’m pretty sure I’ll be going with the FS17. Long term it makes more sense. I’ll be pulling out my Jeep from the garage and that’s where I’ll end up building it. Any pre build advice? I plan on buying anything I may need for it (clamps, gloves, rollers, brushes, ect) here soon....

Re: FS14 Tiller Console

A better option might be to build the FS17 as is, and add a removable tongue to the trailer. With the winch stand removed you can easily fit it in a 19' garage. My last boat was 15.5ft and was to small for our family with 2 small kids. The FS17 has a lot more room. I’d love to see someone’s FS17 in...

Re: FS14 Tiller Console

Just how bad is your HOA? the one here (that I don't have to deal with) allows cars parked in driveways. if you can do that might you be able to place boat diagonal in the garage to maximize length? So we can have cars in the driveway. The garage will be for the boat specifically along with my tool...
