Re: Help with identifying some glass (FS14LS

I'm sure people do it, but the gel magic technical data sheet specifically says you don't need to precoat. I have never precoated using it and have had no problems. ... My approach was to: -spot weld with gel magic and let cure -remove stitches and finish welding with gel magic and let cure -scuff ...

Re: Jeffs FS14 LS

Your build looks really nice! Great workmanship!! Appreciate it Eric, yours as well, quite impressive! Not sure if you already have an idea for the sole but I used this trick to create a template for the floor of my driftboat: I rought-cut a piece of fiberboard that was within an inch or two all th...

Thanks Jeff, that's Brook. She's getting on in years(14+) but still doing very well. She was a rescue from Puerto Rico, we got her at about 8 weeks old. She's a mutts' mutt, little bit of everything in her.
I can tell by looking at her she's a purebred Curb Setter!
Curb Setter.

Re: Help with identifying some glass (FS14LS

Looks good to me on the epoxy plan. You precoat the weld locations to avoid dryjoint that can happen with plywood. Silvertip highly unlikely to blush inside heated areas. 250 gallons used ~ 0 blush events, but a few mix errors. Precoating those joints will make it hard to get fillets in place if it...

Re: Help with identifying some glass (FS14LS

1708 or 1208 More likely the 1708. It is 25 oz per yard or 25/6 oz per running yard (3 ft) Thanks Fall Guy. I just go the 6oz biaxial tape from BBC, it's a LOT lighter. I've never used the SilverTip stuff before, so I'm guessing here on what to use where, corrections/opinions appreciated: 1. pre-co...

Re: Jeffs FS14 LS

Well, I hate to comment on how much I like your workmanship on the drift boat with all this talk of aging four legged workshop supervisors. I have a 14+ helper as well so totally get what you’re both talking about. I'm jealous, Alan. Brook won't come near the workshop, she was in the photo because ...

Wow Jeff, We have a rescue from Puerto Rico. He was an abused dog there and a local Florida rescue brought him over at about 1 year old. His name is Thor and he is nearly 14 himself!!! Crazy stuff!! Jeff That's awesome Jeff. Maybe they will meet when we come down in March/April, they may be long lo...

Re: OD18 - NH

have now seen just what a home built "working boat" finish is supposed to look like. https://forums.bateau2.com/app.php/gallery/image/5444/medium I doubt if this guy had ever heard of fairing compound. It is a good example however of just how little messing around you have to do to have a serviceab...

Re: Jeffs FS14 LS

Quite welcome.

Finally finished the seat/battery box and oar risers for the driftboat, may be a little while before they get installed.
