Jacques, I will build the rudder to spec.. however, I need an exact location of the rudder shaft at the rudder to do that as it's not shown on the drawings how much is balanced. That's the part I guessed at when doing the calculations using the method in the vetus catalog. If I use the Edson rudder ...

TW28 Rudder Torque

Could you tell me what the Max rudder torque is for the TW28.. I'm not so confident with my calculations. Also, when sizing the hydraulic cylinder - to weak a cylinder obviously isn't good, but is going stronger a problem as well. I have good access to smaller commercial cylinders/system though most...

What type of fairlead are you refering to? I did a search and it seemed endless.. There were some nice roller fairleads that looked very similar to the hawse holes you show on the drawings.. I'm kind of at a loss - It's not a detail I need now, but knowing the direction to head in my help.. Thanks!

Thanks for the replies.. What I was refering to was detail with the anchor sticking through the "hawse hole" at the bow. I like that detail as opposed to a bowsprit and wanted peoples imput. I'm not opposed to keeping it simple and forgetting the windlas all together, but on days when we fish near s...

Jacques / Shine detail for the TW28

I want to know your opinions of the suitability of this detail for the TW28, also what it's called. I've seen what Yavuz and Macca did, but I like this better and if you think it's appropriate I'll pursue having someone draw it up for me.. http://gallery.bateau2.com/albums/userpics/18477/Detail.JPG ...

fiberglass splices (scarfing plywood)

Question regarding the fiberglass splices when making long panels.. The how to file say that the plans specify the fiberglass splices. I don't see anywhere on the plans that specifically say what the fiberglass splices are. Are they the same schedule as the taped seams? Also should the plywood panel...

Would I be correct to assume for areas that call for 1208 I could use 2 x 12 oz biax or would I use the same 2 x 17 oz biax?

last question.. (a test of your patience) if I'm correct above and we're trying to standardize what about 3 x 12 oz in lieu of 1708?
