So would it be appropriate to use 2 x 17 ox biax in lieu of 1 x 1708 or is there a better approach?

I don't mind adding cost where there is a payoff such as added strength.

I thought it might be easier to wet out say 2 layers of 17 oz Biax than one layer of 1708. An increase in cost but in the end some added strength.

TW28 Lamination

Is it okay to use 1708 in lieu of 1208 on chine panels and transom? I'm also curioius if there is something other than 1708 and 1208? I understand that the role of the mat is to add thickness but it does little else.. could you use 17 oz biax and 8oz cloth instead? Also, what about s-glass as oppose...

Hmmm, there seems to be some disconnect. Let me try and clarify what I was asking for. In refernece to Macca's question you said I started designing boats with headroom to fit me: 5' 10". Then, when Ryan and Joel came to work with me, we raised that to 6' 1" or 6' 2" because they are tall but appare...

I hadn't realized that the hieght of the cabin and pilot house on the study plans differed from what was on the plans, I'll have to look again. If it's not too much of a problem please post the model with a 5'6" person at the helm. (The plans were purchased a while ago but I won't start building unt...

Jaques, Do you have any renderings or sketches that show the TW28 with the original cabin and pilot house heights.. being 5'6" tall I don't need 6'4" of height in the cabin. I thought if I lowered the height in the cabin I could enlarge the windows and potentally get better visibility accross the bo...

What you said is what I had thought, that they are an outdated engine. No question that the Nanni Kubota is a superior product. The 42 hp Nanni is what I'm planning to use when I start my TW28 project in September 08. I had just come accross the BUHK while looking at options for shaft seals/systems ...

Bukh diesels

I'm curious about the BUKH diesel engines i.e. what's their claim to fame and how they differ from the more common Kubota and Mitsubishi engines.
