He's very familar with trawlers.. either way I end up with the maximum prop size 18" and everyone seems to agree on the pitch 13". Still, as I mentioned to Cumhur, I have a lot of time to decide on the issue and strangely enough the prop doesn't really change. We've found a three balde ACME prop 18x...

I'm going with an 18" x 13" propeller, ordering it this week in fact. I have already purchased the 1.5" shaft, fiberglass shaft tube, and vesconite bushings. I like the 50 hp Nani, however my prop guy disagrees with Jacques regarding the 2.5 reduction gear and is suggesting a 2:1. The debate seems e...

Voytek-

You will have issues going much over 2.5" diameter with the shaft tube - I ended up going with a 2" ID X 2.5" OD. I also went with vesconite bearings and a 1.5" shaft.

I went with the tw28 for fishing the canyons up here in the NE (20 - 50 miles off shore). It will take longer to get there, but my thought is that I can take more weather and stay out longer. For example Fri-Sun whereas most guys steam out and back each day.

Hi Ismaelmorris, I purchased the precut panels (kit) as you're considering doing.. I can't begin to tell you how many hours it's going to save us not to mention the usuall mistakes one often makes laying out cutting etc. If I'm not mistaken, the cnc cut panels are more exact than the printed plans.....

I used a 1.25" (32 mm) shaft for the rudder shaft.. seems adaquate, though larger wouldn't do any harm.
