That tiller setup will give you more turning power and you only push fore and aft, you stay centered!

Got me thinking about doing the St. Johns River from the headwaters to Jacksonville.
What boat would you use? If you do it please be sure to document it for us.
I dunno, I just absolutely love this stuff but at my age I don't think I have the gumption. Of course, the guy who just won the Golden Globe was 73 and that's a hell of a lot scarier than this.

There is something about falling down a 20ft. wave, at night, at the helm and nobody can hear you scream!


Running the river,
I would take the SandPiper (FS14), no center bench, my camping cot fits in there just right. I'll have to wait 7 plus years before I could do it.... 67 years old!
