D5 Questions for Jacques

Post by Jeff » Thu Sep 19, 2019 7:24 am

The following question arrived via email last evening: "Hi, I just purchased the D5 plans and have questions. I just brought home card stock to make my patterns. I used an awl to mark the corners of each part, punched a series of dots to mark off the curves, and then connected all the dots. For fun I decided to measure the parts against the measurements on the drawing and they didn’t match at all.. by way more than 2% as indicated in the drawing. So, should I discard the pattern templates and measure everything out as I draw or should I trust the patterns you sent? My concern is that when I go to make the seat tops, they will be way to small to fit over the bulkheads. Thanks," Jeff

Trust the dimensions, not the patterns.
The printing may be off and the paper can move, stretch and shrink but the dimensions are always reliable.
