28 BERTRAM OUTBOARD CONVERSION

Questions about boat repairs with our resins and fiberglass: hull patches, transoms and stringers, foam, rot etc.

Thanks a lot doug! Those are just 1" foam strips. They add a little stiffness to the hull sides. No magic in how I located them. They are two ft on center roughly and coincide with the ribs that support the cap. They are glassed on and that makes a little vertical beam section. Glad to answer anything I can.

Got the ballast tanks built under the console. Made a significant difference. First pic is with tanks full and second was no tanks. Tanks hold about 90 gallons. Very noticeable in the stability and ride.

Much better. never thought of adding a ballast tank should work out pretty good when you have it loaded with fish.

Can you fill and drain them on the fly?

Hey Rick, the way they are set currently is they both fill at rest. Once you get going on plane they drain about 60% of the water. I could make it more controllable with addition of two pumps but trying to keep it simple if possible. The rear tank serves as a sea chest for bait and raw water pumps. Getting it dialed in!
