Wood Deck Options?

Post by mbasura » Sun Nov 29, 2009 9:45 am

Anyone have any experience putting down a wood veneer deck as described by the Geogeon Bros? I have been looking mightily for teak, but I cannot justify the expense. I think gold leaf maybe cheaper. Anyone know of a substitute?

Has any one used clear douglas fir in lieu of teak? If I keep it oiled, will it stand up to moderate use?

Has anyone used Ipe? Ipe is beautiful and durable but amazingly heavy. But, a Ipe vendor has warned it is prone to cupping if cut to 1/4" strips. I wonder with a full epoxy bond if it would cup?

Any comments/opinions/rants/or WAGs welcome.
