After a boatload of sanding , and re painting bottom, along with few coats of primer on topside. Got to paint topside today. I'll sand with like a 320 or close to it and do one more coat, plan of flipping middle of week and getting to inside finally. Used total boat one part wet edge, went on pretty easy and looks pretty good.

Thanks yeh was snowing last week now it's 70s pushing record highs today lol.
Getting ready to flip and start up the stringers and framing. I have a small problem, I have someone with a real nice 40hp mercury 2 stroke with steering controls, trim throttle and all for better deal than could previously find for a 20hp with accessories.
I know it's to high to suggest legally, but I'm doing the floored version with center console, thinking of moving it slightly forward. I'll be adding some weight there. Also, I was thinking of adding one or two more bottom frames in between seat frames and casting deck and seat frames and rear deck frames. Basically matiching the sole level on seat frames I have marked previously and leave the 3" up the sides. Also I will be adding flotation foam in bottom. Should I reinforce transom also. Think I'll be ok weight wise? Just for back bay fishing I'll be using it.

A couple of things to think about. First is the weight which you mention. Your 40HP is 77lbs heavier than a new 20HP. To balance out the weight you have 77 extra lbs. sitting 7' behind the center of gravity or an equivalent of a weighted arm of 7' x 77lbs or 539lbs. You would need to move 539lbs forward of the 9' that is in front of the COG

Second with a 40HP on her if you top out your speed your bottom may not be strong enough for and will oil can. You can put an extra layer of fiberglass on the bottom to help this but check with Jacques.

Ok yeh is pretty heavy. So if me and my cousin who always fish were seated above cog it should be ok, but does seem like a lot of a difference. Would this just be better on a fs17? I needed a few sheets of marine ply for floor so was thinking of ordering the wood for one as the shipping will be similar cost.

Yes it would be perfect on a FS17. Remedy up in CT has a 40 on his FS17 and feels it is perfect for it.

Got it flipped paint came out real nice. 3 coats wet edge in white. Only problem is think need to make a frame underneath instead of this trailer I have. To be able to really work inside.

Hi, the boat is turning out really great. I built a cradle as close to the ground as possible to help access and even then it’s slow going especially when you have to lean over the side to work on it. You will need several step ladders if you build it on the trailer. Having said that, some people on this site have managed it if it’s the only option.
Alan.
