Mike Smith's TW28 build

Post by mike smith » Sat Mar 02, 2019 1:51 pm

Just cut the bow mold. Its a learning curve experience. I gonna need a better drywall square and a few other things to be more productive. I asked about a shop manual early, I didn't realize I was missing it until I was looking for information about the bow mold position in relationship to station A. I will wait for a response before I do anymore work. Anyways I just want to start a post on my build.

I love the TW28.

It is a lot of boat.

Where are you gonna keep it/run it?

I am building the boat to do the great loop. I live in Danielsville Georgia and Lake Hartwell is the closest lake of any size.

Good choice for the Great Loop.
Email Reid at e-boat.net and he will send you a PDF copy. That manual has good information about inboard installation but nothing about the bow mold.
Post in the technical section and I will reply there.
What is your question about the bow mold?

I have station A located at the origin 0.0.0 and the bow mold doesn't show a base line. So I'm assuming that it goes on the front of the station A mold center line beyond the origin and flush with the station A mold on what will be the top of the jig. I look forward to reading the shop manual. Thank you

You are correct about the alignment. Install the bow mold against A with the tip of the bow mold just at the level of the tip of A.

Brace the crap out of station A. Once you pull the bottom panels down to it the force will try to move the station aft.

Welcome Mike
The TW28 family is growing! The TW28 is a perfect boat for long trips. I know, I built one. Don't forget to also enjoy the construction of the boat, it is an adventure.
