My Plyak has 1" scuppers and I wish I'd gone bigger. Rolled it 3 times in just waist deep water and it took a bit longer than I wished to drain when I stood there and held it. No way I could recover in deep water, though bigger scuppers wouldn't help that much. The 1" is fine for rain, splashes, etc.

Thanks Dougster for the feedback.

Filleted all around the scupper reinforcements yesterday afternoon and then this morning after a final round of sanding, vacuuming, wiping down, etc. I was able to put the first coat of System Three Yacht primer on the interior of the kayak.

Got three weeks to go until the banquet. It is going to be a mad rush to the finish line.

This week I did a bunch of prep work on the deck and the hull, fabricated coaming pieces, then painted the interior with several coats of System Three WR-LPU in Orcas White. Let that dry for a few days and then taped off part of the cockpit and the hatch area. Installed the padeyes in the cockpit area for the seat. Then applied Kiwi Grip to the hatch and cockpit soles.

Plan to put the deck on tomorrow.

Thanks guys.

Got the deck glued to the hull this morning with Gel Magic and some temporary screws. This afternoon I sanded the deck and hull joint and filled whatever gaps remained with EZ Fillet.
