Thanks, although fairing had never been my thing and I can see it in my canoe as well. However, I've learned quite a lot and I'm sure my next project (V12) will be esthetically more pleasing. Funny though; my 5yo son doesn't notice and he thinks it's beautiful and is so excited to get it in the water and paddle with me.

Ok, it's finished. Now for the big question: how do I get it off of my 15' high roof terrace? I can't go through my house (can't make the turns)... I'll try to round up some basketball players or something I guess

Transport off the roof will be Monday. It's too bad, because it's still unusually warm weather for this time of year. On the other hand, I know it will go down without damage, as I've arranged a fork lift from the depot next door. Luckely Monday should see fair weather as well and it's my day off too!
As I can't sit around and do nothing I've bought some cleats to fit on the breasthooks. I've drilled oversized holes and filled them with putty. Tomorrow I'll drill slightly smaller holes in the hardened epoxy and install the cleats with ss nuts and bolts.
Also I've found some nice rope, which looks like it's made of natural fibre, but is actually poly-something (sales assistent didn't quite know). I've spliced some eyes (love to do that) and I think it has a nice vintage look.

Yes, your rope had to be like that. That classic blue and bright is amazing.
You only need patience if you'd rather be doing something else.

Thanks Buz.

The canoe was lifted of the roof this morning:

And shortly after it was in the water:

It was a bit of a fiddle, because the quay behind the appartment building is quite high, but I managed to get in and subsequently get myself in. It has a bit of initial instability (compared to the plastic barge type canoe I paddled some time ago), but it's very managable. I paddled for about half an hour before I had to pick up my son at school. Hopefully I have some more time later this week. It has been fun to build and now I hope it'll be fun to paddle!
