PH16 New Build

Post by fishgitr » Wed Aug 15, 2012 10:46 pm

I started building a PH16 yesterday. I have the complete hull together and I have fiberglassed the seams. Tomorrow I will fiberglass the rest of the outside. My question is how many layers of fiberglass (50") do I need to put across the bottom?

I will post pics soon of my progress.

Thanks

I know on the 18, one layer is all. I have a second layer of 10 oz. between the taped joints for extra protection and to help with fairing.

In one day you assembled the entire hull and glassed the seams 8O :!:

Should be ready to launch next week :P

Welcome to the forum. The plans have the lamination schedule, but I doubt more than one layer is called for on that boat.

The lamination schedule is on the plans and/or the building notes.
Some builders added an extra layer for resistance to abrasion.

Yes it didn't take long. But this also isn't my first build. In my plans how ever, it didn't say anywhere about how many layers. I put my second layer of glass across the seams last night. And I got my stringers and and interior boards in this morning and glassed.

I don't seem to be able to post pics from my iPad!

And thanks again.

This being my first phantom build, do I need to watch out in particular for anything? Like problems a lot of people run into?
