GS28 to GS26?

Post by davesavage3363 » Sat Jul 14, 2018 10:47 am

Well after reading everything I can about scaling plans I would like the designers opinion on the GS28, for storage purposes I would need the length to be no more than 26. After a rash of thefts in my area and losing a new John Deere tractor, I want to be able to store it indoors, under surveillance. I don't want to lose any beam width, just two feet on the length, is this possible?

Maybe I put post in wrong place for Jacques to see, any experienced builder feel free to reply to previous question about shortening GS28 by 2 ft. (about 9%)

I am not sure about your question so I can not answer it but I just did not want you to think you were being ignored. Also I think JM is away for a few days so it might take a few days for him to answer.

Dave, is your storage facility limited to 26’ exactly? I ask because you’re gonna want to think about the tongue of the trailer too. I had to cut my tongue off and add one of those swing away kits to fit in my garage. Just a thought. Jacques is supposedly getting back Monday-ish.

Right at 32, taking into account motor and detachable tongue. thanks for the reply, I am about 10 miles from Conyers, Ga., we are almost neighbors!

Dave, sound like you’re better at thinking ahead than I am :). Jacques usually recommends scaling length and width as just scaling one (and not the other) can dramatically change performance. I’m not sure about such a large, relatively narrow boat though. I’m sure he’ll chime in!

Thanks country!

It’s the GV15, but I modified it to a center console style. Built it for duck hunting and striped fishing on Clarks Hill Lake. She’s perfect for 2-3 people...currently problem is that my family is now 5!
