SO I guess Ill resurrect my thread to post an update. For a while I couldnt get pictures to upload so I kind of just stopped but I have been doing some things with the boat. I took all my epoxy jugs and make a funnel stack to consolidate.

Made a "lathe" for my $100 20' maxgains push pule and coated 5 times with graphite epoxy while it spun.

Made and glued backing plates under my pushpole holders and under butt joints along the gunnel that developed cracked under use.

Been fishing a few times duck hunting a few times. Realized my 11yo hunting partner is not as limber as he used to be. He is slowing down for sure. Got a "casting platform" that Im going to use kennedy tie down system turnbuckle to tie down. Sorry everything has seemed to mix up on this post. I tried to post inline to make things easier to follow but something has messed that up.

Does that seat back mean you are ditching the casting platform? What is your top speed and what is the good cruising speed with the 40?

Thanks

No I'm not abandoning it I'm just making it so I can change it out quickly without needed extra holes all over the deck. Top speed was around 32 but I still dont have it propped correctly as I'm taching out at WOT. It also starts to porpoise at WOT. I've tried a new prop but haven't been anywhere to open it up yet. I'll report when I do

I’m starting to test my lm and saw you had porpoising issues. Did you solve them? I’m starting to think that I don’t have enough negative trim. First I’m going to try raising the motor up one hole, next I might try a wedge to trim it down a bit. Let me know how you solved it.

Thanks
Chris

Update. Took the boat and wife to ga coast this weekend to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. A bean bag chair is a must for sure as she was able to lay back and read as I fished all day (for two days). Still haven't quite figured out the prop but the cooler in the front solved the porpoising mostly. I can jack the motor all the way up and run on plane at about 75% wot but that has me sitting right at 6000rpm running 30sog on gps. If I drop the motor in using the jack plate the rpms lower along with speed. I'll figure that out one day. We sure did have fun running around that river system. I haven't looked at total miles logged but if I had to guess based on fuel usage I'd say 20-30 easy over the two days. Also caught some fish. Half my pictures still won't upload so I'll post these and work on that. I also want to post an update on a repair I've made to show the process if I can get those pictures to upload. Lesson learned from this trip. That bean bag chair was worth every penny!

P.s. (She's 7 months pregnant with our fourth, and last, child)
