Re: Crabby Patti2 C17
Hi, I get the shivers even thinking about fairing another hull. Yours looks great, enjoying watching it come together.
Alan.

Thanks for the support. I tried my own fairing mix today. 50% microballons and some silica; epoxy resin. Pretty cold here so taking a long time for things to set.

Re: Crabby Patti2 C17
I decided to glass the upper panels of the C17. I ordered 3.75 oz. glass last night, hopefully just enough to protect the plywood. I am uncomfortable with the joint/plywood lap at the style line. I am planning on lapping the 3.75 oz. about an inch over the style line, will build a 45 degree fillet on the style line. Will do the same inside. It will get used pretty hard in Puget sound so will accept the added weight for some added peace of mind. I figure if I lose 15 lbs. that will make up the difference.
20 degrees outside right now and expecting 10" of snow; so not much progress as not much heat in the build garage. Waiting for fiberglass, baby powder, tyvek suit, and warmer weather!

Way too cold for us Crabby!! Jeff
Re: Crabby Patti2 C17
Weather finally broke and snow delayed delivery of 3.75 oz. fabric arrived. I know glassing the upper panels is not needed but I feel better. Built a small fillet on style line, rounded edge and the fabric laid down beautifully. So far about 2-1/2 gallons of epoxy for the hull. A bit more for fairing so that seems pretty good. More fairing now then sanding.... everyone’s favorite sport.
