OB15 "Shad Dart" First Boat Build-NC

Post by Capfish1 » Wed Oct 02, 2019 8:06 pm

So I've already asked a few questions here and folks are great to respond so I wanted to say thank you!

I'm going to keep this thread for my project. I have the plans for the OB15 and will be ordering wood and resin tomorrow... Hopefully my 17 year old son and I will be learning a lot from here on... And so it begins...

So looking at my full size plans and I see what looks like another panel to cut.

On Plan B107/2.... Just above the bottom panel there is a sliver of a panel, goes along side the top of the bottom panel. Is that to be cut and used? Is it for the chine? Is it waste?

I"ll check tomorrow but do not cut anything before you need it.

I checked and there is no B107/2 except in a set of temporary drawings that I forwarded to the BBC office this AM.
I am currently redrawing the OB15. Same boat, same specs but the old plans were updated a few times and became messy. I am cleaning that up right now by redrafting the whole thing. The new plans will match the kit.
Also, in the old plans, the standard version was the one with benches but everybody is building the center console boat.
In the new plans, the standard version will be the center console version.
All the hulls are the same, don't worry about that now.
In the new set, B107/2 is a nesting drawing.
The drawing number number may change tomorrow.
In the meantime, do not cut anything you don't need.
Start by setting up a pair of strongbacks and cut your molds.
That will keep you busy for a while. :D

Later today, I forwarded (to Reid) preliminary building notes. He will send them to you.
Follow those notes.

Noe more thing: don't use the full size pattern, they are unreliable.
All full-size patterns are unreliable: paper stretch and shrink, moves around while you draw = bad.
Use the dimensions please.
