SECOND ANNUAL TEXAS COAST BUILDERS MEET

Post by Prarie Dog » Sat Jan 14, 2012 7:06 am

I was killing some time sitting at the rink the other night by reading the thread for last year's meet and it occured to me it's time to start talking about this years meet. Don't know about ya'll but I had a blast, reading that thread was fun and started me thinking about how to proceed this year. It seems the first thing is a few questions.

Do we want to do this again?

Do we want to have it at Clark's again?

Who wants to be the front man (in Texas)?

Thanks for last year, it was a good time!!
Paul

Count me and the misses in. Looking forward to seeing ya'll again. Hope the weather is better this time. As to where, the only other spot for me would be something in Port Aransas.

Yes! Absolutely!

Clark's was a great place other than the lack of amenities for the non-fisher people.

Rockport and Port Aransas have lots of opportunities to consider.

I will pitch in again anyway I can.

One question not asked so far is timing. How does the end of July sound as a starting point?

MD

I'm in! Surely I can have my FS18 finished by then. Well I hope to any way.

I'm in too if I'm here. I'll be gone July 9 through July 21. The 21rst is a Saturday. So the very end of July works for me. I talked with the wife earlier about it, and she was fine with Clark's even though she didn't fish. I half way looked around at Rockport a few months ago when I was there and didn't see anything as good as Clark's, but who knows.

Looks forward to it Dougster

Looks good guys. Thanks for the offer to help Mad Dog. I don't know of another place like Clark's on the coast, can some of you guys that know the area better chime in here so we can figure it out. I think once we get that pegged we can figure out when. Late July sounds good to me. :D

there are a couple of places in Port A that have slips, Bay Tree Condos and Channel View Condos. Also maybe Lighthouse Inn at Aransas Pass. I'll help any way I can.

How many folks showed up last year?

We have a big get together every year in POC and rent an apartment on the ICW that has 6 bedrooms and sleeps about 23 or so.
We rented it from Tigrett.

BTW, probably want to have it after POCO Bueno (Third weekend in July). There are 2 or 3 big tournaments just before POCO. After POCO, everything settles down.

Pro Wader we had 35 or 40 people last year. Many of the guys brought their families and had their own rooms, we stayed at Clark's in POC. One of the things that was discussed at the meet was the lack of things for our non fishing wives to do. Hanging around Clark's was probably pretty boring for some of them. POC has a lot going for it, great fishing, a great place to stay with slips, handy bait shops etc.. It is lacking in the shopping department. :D

There's been some talk about Rockport, Port Aransas and Aransas Pass. If we find a place down there that has what we need then we need to take a look at it. The last weekend in July was chosen because of some fishing tournaments the Poco Beuno may have been the reason, don't remember.

Uncle D named some places let's check them out.
