Karl,
Yes your description of the dolly is correct. There's a stand to stabilize it while you're getting the boat on it, and then you kick it under the boat and it rolls. I secure the boat to it with a strap.
One thing to consider about your plan: When the wheels are at the stern, you are lifting most of the weight of the boat at the bow as you tow it, presumably by hand. I found that it makes a great deal of difference if you can get the boat's weight pretty much centered on the dolly. It makes it much less strenuous for an old man to tow. But maybe you're not an old man. 8)

Hi Tony,
I am an old man for sure and my strength seems to be twindling by the day, but I will have to pull the FS13 lifted a the bow and 2 wheels at the transom only for some 50 metres or so from the roof carrier to the water. And that this also wont be too much for me old croc I am building the FS13 lighter than hopefully anyone else. My planned weight for it is 25 kg. And to top it all I am sure it will be more the boat of my grandson and at the splashing of AD14 and FS13 there will be lots of strong young people and after that I will be mainly sailing or rowing with the row boat and leave the tipsy FS13 to the youngsters. But I will post pictures soon of the FS13 and its sack barrow so that you all can have a laugh.
Greetings from Karl

I'll really be interested to see if you achieve the 25kg, and if so, how you do it.

Hi Tony,
That is what I call a scenic rowing route. I am surprised you dare to row so far out and at the waves one can see. At one second one can hardly see the boat so I guess there was a 3-4 foot swell. I am sure you are having real fun rowing it the same as we have watching the video.

Thanks, guys.
The waters near the Golden Gate demand caution in a little boat, so even though I'm very familiar with the Bay, I checked the weather carefully before going. We also needed a day without fog to get this and other shots--the wife did the photography--and those aren't guaranteed in the summer around here.

Another reason why we do what we do... Handcrafting a vessel for such moments....

Duckworks Boat Supply--I guess a competitor--has used a photo of me in my V10 for its front page on Facebook:
