SB18

Post by Robert Olson » Fri Dec 12, 2008 12:48 pm

JM,
I'm in the process of constructing the SB18 and have attached the deck to the hull. If I understand the build process properly, you have stated that the deck and sole (assumed that to be the cockpit sole) is to be filleted and taped to the deck?
Second question, is the deck to be taped to the hull both inside and outside the boat?
For your information, I have found the construction of the SB18 to go quiet smoothly with few problems (usually mine). I also have taken advantage of the message board and found the information from the other builders to be very interesting and helpfull.
To the other builders of the SB18: You have been awfully quiet in the last weeks :!:

Page 4 of the building notes explains it: seams inside.
Later, when you fiberglass the deck, overlap the sides.
Always overlap!
That gives you a seam each side and yes, that applies to the cockpit too.

I’m covered up with work and have all but stopped working on our SB 18. It will be spring before anything happens now I’m sure. How about some pictures of your build? No fair sneaking up like that.

I'm having trouble posting photos to the gallery and am preparing to leave town for a couple of months. I will attempt to post some photos when I return.
We have over a foot of snow on the ground and it is suppose to snow again tonight and the next couple of days. It has not been above freezing in a week. It makes it difficult to to accomplish much glass work.

Hello,
I have been silent for a few months, but now I have a photo web site and have a few photo's for everyone to view. It has been a long cold winter and we went south for a while. Consequently, not a lot of work was accomplished on the SB18. Here is the web page and hope everyone will be able to view the site. If not let me know and I will try to resolve any problems.

I have been working on the cabin top and have added a few new photos to my photo album. Anyone that wishes may view the progress at http://picasaweb.google.ca/rolson519/SB ... tionPhotos# . Haven't heard much activity from the other builders of the SB18. Has anyone else been making headway ? It is a long project, takes time and patience.
