Use something ;like a shock cord to keep that pull back line tight. If you don't the line will jump out of the groove.
You can also pull out and retract by hand. It's simple, no snag risk.

This is the lathe set up, I also ran the bowsprit thru 2 2x4's to make sure there was no risk if it going out of control (completely). I used this just to smooth it out enough for the fiberglass sock to slide over it.

Lathe set up. I was going use both sides to secure it. But the one side was enough for the 15 minutes I used it.
Completed Danny Greene "Chameleon" a 10 1/2' nesting/rowing/sailing dinghy. Building an Alexa's Rocket 15 w/ optional retractable spinnaker pole.

4 this week. 3 groundings. 2 rescues. Chutes in 20+. We had ours blow out on dousing due to a spare halyard being jammed at the masthead. Luckily I’m still fat and managed to put some weight on it (once we got one sheet back on board). I was really glad I wore my brown pants.

Better?

I tried to say something but God thought I was wrong and filled my mouth with saltwater. I kept my pie hole shut after that.

2. gybes
3. bosun's chair
