I always thought you guys painted a sample on a small area of the boat to make sure everything is right. Just goes to show how much of a noob I am.

Ventilate well with the Awlgrip.

Used it on a whaler and it is strong odor and sure not real healthy for you................!

I painted the awlgrip 545 primer today. Yuk. The stuff was really watery. Not using it on my large boat.

Tomorrow, I gotta get some smaller 4" foam rollers..sand, and paint it again.

No way was I going to tip it off with it as watery as it was. I wanted a nice cover coat and anywhere I brushed; didn't get it.

I used the brushing reducer at 10% as per rec. Not sure why anyone would want to make it thinner...maybe it just slows the drying down..

Awlgrip - first coat. No tipping; just roll n brushed where no rolling. Prolly going 3 primers.. I sanded with 1/4 sheet power sander on low with 220.

Did some fairing today - gotta dry it n sand 3 hours. Then another coat of primer tomorrow.

That is a huge improvement over what you started with :!: I just know it is going to look great when you are done.

Awlgrip primer 3rd coat rolled n tipped
-hard to keep a wet edge....dries fast fast fast even with 10% brush reducer

Need to 320 sand or whatever the awlgrip topcoat says; but hoping 320
