Hey welcome to the group WHP.
I have no idea what choices you have in your part of the world, maybe Rick or Glossie will chime in. For me here the wood flower is about the cheapest thing you will buy and it will surprise you how much you use. I would get at least a gallon of it. If you end up with leftovers it is not the end of the world. Might tempt you into building another boat

It's sold here by the pound, and 5 pounds should be plenty. http://boatbuildercentral.com/proddetai ... =E_woo_5lb

Like Fuzz said, it's cheap, get plenty.

Does anyone use the dust collected when using an RO sander? It seems a shame to waste it and it looks like the right consistency.

For what wood flour costs and the hassle of trying to make fine enough yourself just buy it .
It's really not worth the effort.

I am sure some guys do. Especially if they are going for a bright finish. They sell 5 pounds for 20 bucks here. For that price I can not spend my time scraping it up. I am pretty sure wood flower is the cheapest thing you will buy for your boat :D

Certainly cheaper than the liquor bill.

I tried to say something but God thought I was wrong and filled my mouth with saltwater. I kept my pie hole shut after that.

I couldn't find it in my country... I used saw dust (from panels and stations cutting ) passed through a sieve and some Aerosil to get the "peanut butter" consistence.

It´s hard to sand but don´t sag.

Regards.

A 9kg bag of 75 micron woodflour from Micromilling in Goulbourn cost me A$45 plus $75 freight to Townsville. One bag should be heaps for your build.
