What is in a name?
Re: What is in a name?
An old friend named his boat "Thing", after his first born called it "thing"..... 36 years later it's still has Thing painted on both sides. There is Thing 2 and Thing 3 now!
Sometimes you have to have a story to name your boat!

Re: What is in a name?
V12 is Lil Bit. Lil Bit of a boat. Lil Bit of fun on a breezy day. Lil Bit of a grocery cart (if I’m ever able to get fish with her again). And so on.
The SB18 will be “A Bit More”. The big boat, should I be so lucky, will be “A Whole Lotta”.
By JM radio call standards I think I’m ok. Tony raises an interesting point with foreign country issues. I think I’m OK by the humor standards.
All the names mean something to me. Not sure that makes them good though.

jacquesmm wrote: ↑Tue Sep 04, 2018 11:23 amThere is a fishing charter boat around here named "Knot Working". He goes out almost every day and is very vocal on the VHF. His calls are confusing:
"Lucky Dog, this is Knot Working".
" To the boat calling , this is Lucky Dog, it's working".
"No, it's Knot Working".
" It's working, I hear you loud and clear" etc.
Think of how your name is going to sound on the radio.

Re: What is in a name?
I built a little pram years back and decided the best name for her was Leviathan. Along the same line would have been Titanic, but that would have fit on the transom more easily!

I was thinking when I put the name on my build it will be either on the sides at the rear or across the console.

We live on the north shore of Ootsa Lake, here in northern BC.
I will attempt the PG-22 build on our property...97 paces from the beach.
She will be named Ootsa Maid. Of course, she will also be Ootsa-made

50/50
My boat got it's name from a buddy who saw a picture of the cut plywood on a table and called me to say I give that boat a 50/50 chance of floating.
