danieloldhouse, The Florida Panhandle is where all of the major damage was done. We have quite a few builders in the area but have not heard from them as of yet. Power outage is widespread so it may be a few days before we get a good idea of how they did. The hardest hit area seems to have been Mexico Beach, just east of Panama City, Florida. Check back with us in a few days!! Jeff

One of my twin grandsons in the Air Force Reserves volunteered to go help with the cleanup. His specialty is heavy equipment operator. He started in Carabelle and moved several days ago to just North of Panama City. They are clearing roads so emergency responders can get around. His construction group have cleared miles of roads. Cutting downed power lines and trees to clear the roads.

Sleeping next to their vehicles out in the open in cots and eating mre's.

He says 2 ft dia pine trees just snapped in half. The whole power grid is down. The other twin grandson got called up and will ship out in another week or so, Also heavy equipment operator. They will rotate them every two weeks until Christmas. They are both based out of Camp Blanding near Starke.

I am quite proud of these two boys who just had their 21st birthday last week.

Regards
Tom in Steinhatchee

Tom give them our gratitude and thanks. Those folks down in the Panhandle will be months without power and maybe years before rebuilding there homes. Thanks again to them.

I just donated here: https://www.redcross.org/donate/hurrica ... ZAodUp0PKQ

Some day we'll have an earthquake out here and we'll need help too.
Of course, I hope to be dead by then.

Thanks for everyone's thoughts and prayers. I had nothing but trees to take care of. Tallahassee was worse off than us but primarily a power and tree issue. Marianna is bad but not as bad a Panama City. I updated more on the Hurricane Michael thread.
