Redfish

Post by fishgitr » Thu Sep 20, 2018 9:52 pm

Here’s a video from about 4-5 years ago of an epic day of redfishing with a couple of friends. I was going through my YouTube videos and found it. Enjoy

Great fishing! Nothing better than lots of fish and everyone does some catching :D Never caught a redfish, I take it they are good eating?

Catching slot reds on light tackle is a blast!! And they are really good to eat. I like the lower slot sizes and grilled. They have a very mild flavor like trout. They also freeze well. What is a real hoot is catching them along a weed line close to the bank. After the strike you see a wake headed for deeper water and they will start ripping off line. Good fight with 10 pound test gear.

Next time you are down this way!! I’ll put you on some!! We catch upwards of 50” around here often.

I love eating them!! I don’t keep as often anymore. I use to keep them. Limit out everyday.

We are planning a trip to San Luis Pass Monday. The big reds are running!
