Bob, take your full plywood list around to suppliers, Tell them what you are willing to pay and you may be surprised. I got all of my ply from a local dealer here in Vermont with no shipping charges. You really need to shop and dicker, specially in this economy.

Thank you all for the great suggestions. I will start calling around - but I really think the prices on this web site are pretty good.

When I started doing all of my searching I thought that the prices here were higher than everywhere else. Until I realized how much other places give you the shaft on shipping. After putting the shipping prices into it, I couldn't find anywhere else that had better prices. :D

You won't find anywhere else with better quality or service either. These folks are first class.

If I were you I'd split the project into two parts the hull and the finished boat. For the hull that would require the wood for the hull panels and the frames. This will get you to the completed protion of the hull flipped and all the frames, etc. in. The finished boat would be the sole, gunnels and cabin.

The reasoning is that you can use the frames for the shaping of the hull on the jig without having to buy more wood.

I found that the bateau ply with shipping was comparable in price to a local source in ohio. I figure I saved the cost of a trailer to pick up my order and about 3 hours of driving.

I would take a look at maine coast lumber.. stay away from the place in sommerville ma as their stock (when I went to see it )was twisted from the way it was stored.. lastly consider the kit from bateau you will save a ton of time and aggravation.

why not the tw28?
