New boat design

Do you have any plans to design a drift boat. I am talking about one of those flat bottom flat side square ended boats that look kind of like a bannana. I have seen people use them in rivers while fly fishing. I believe they are usually rowed.

Chuck

No, sorry, no drift boat. I only design what I know, understand and have experience with. It would not be honest to copy some drift boat without knowing how one uses them and list a plan. Sorry.

Some people in Livingston, MT are making driftboats and there is a forum and plans through their site.

http://www.ycsi.net/users/boats/Index.htm

I asked the same question at the old site and got the same answer. I was pleasantly surprised when I went 3-D with my FS14, as it looks like a driftboat with a little less sheer curve and rocker. It still looks like something that could be fun in the Yellowstone River. When I finish it, I´ll probably try it there eventually and put up a post about it.

Sean

Chuck

Check out the February/March issue of Outdoor Life, they have a story and study plans for a good sized stitch & glue drift boat. Full plans are $33 from Paul Butler in Port Angeles, WA.

BilltheCat
