1973 AquaSport 222 1998 200hp Evinrude Ocean Pro

First I would like to say hi to all who dare to give me the time of day
Heres what I have got to deal with.(believe me its worse than it looks, previous owner beached the boat snaping the thru hull xducer in 2 not knowing this he placed it at the mooring, only to find it on the bottom the next day.)

So far i have gotten the motor back up and running perfect :D :D

next is the hull to see if it will float and ride right again.
he was using deck tanks so i lifted the rotted lid under the seat to find the original alum tank in place FULL of salt water
so if it holds water will it hold fuel?

some hull damage most seems to be the transom as sum1 had did a half arse beefup to it.
but the corner seem from water line port to starboard is cracked wide open. o and the wood inside  what wood its mud.

heres a few pics to dwell on till i can take some daylight ones.

Yep, that's normal. Nothing that can't be fixed with some elbow grease and epoxy. Have you looked at this?

Welcome aboard from a fellow 22-2 rebuilder. Looks like you found a flatback that's cool. The link in my signature is to the photobucket gallery of my rebuild. I'll look up the rebuild thread in a few minutes. It turned out to be a bigger project than I expected but it's all good now. Are you fixing this hull up for yourself or a client?

The fuel tank needs a very close inspection. The factory tanks were not well sealed and commonly suffered crevice corrosion. I would pull it just to make sure it is safe.

Not necessarily. Water molecules are larger than gasoline molecules, and won't go through pinholes that gas will gush through :!: Old metal funnels, used to pour gas from a can into a tractor or equipment, used to come with a fine mesh brass screen to strain the water and trash from the gas as you were pouring it, and sediment bowls in the fuel line had the same screen to keep water out of the carburator.

MD offers good advice to pull the tank for inspection, and you should probably pressure test it too

 I've always admitted to being time challenged

Bateau seems to have a time problem too, their clock is 1/2 hour fast

This is going to be my boat so i am debating on to do the repair myself or to have one of the member from here do it for me?
anyone up for the challenge?

I am selling my previous project 18ft Alum starcraft supersport to pay for the repair.
if some one could give me some rough estimates on material cost to do it myself and one also for some one to do it for me.
:help:

I don't think I can do the work but based on my rebuild I spent between $7K-$8K in materials from BBC. I did all the work myself so I have no clue what labor would be. I also spent a bunch on accessories and bling. :D

MD
