Cracker Larry

Post by bateau-webmaster » Mon May 08, 2017 9:59 am

Builders,

We have all lost a great friend, and mentor this past weekend. We are considering our best options to honor Cracker Larry, and all that he has contributed to our community here, and will be making some decisions in the very near/immediate future. We all offer our condolences to Dori, and family, and all of you!

I'm thinking an annual "Cracker Larry Award" to the best build based on an online vote here. Winner gets a sticker for their boat that they will have to explain to folks, and bragging rights for 12 months. If I see them that year I'll buy them a drink of their choice.

Damn! My deepest sympathy to Dori and family, I second renaming the OD 18. Sure learned a lot from Larry and I didn't even know him

That's upsetting news, but he will be remembered fondly. I like the idea of the award for the best voted upon build.

I am sure any choice you make will be a good one.
When I first joined I asked which boat just like many others. Cracker Larry and others said build the OD-18 for my use. It has turned out to be a wise choice.
CapeMans idea is a good one. I am sure there will be many other good ones also.
Damn, I am going to miss the man's stories and advice.

...and here I am working my way through 390+ pages of silver (would be gold but a lot of pictures are gone)

Wish I had the chance to interact with him on the forums...seems like he would have been a pretty fun guy
