frazoo's Honker "14"

I changed the length, so had to change the title. With the new length I can haul it by the trailer I already have or even in the pickup truck with a red flag on it.

Edit May 2, 2011 I accidentally deleted pictures from thread, re-inserting several to show the basic parts going together. Leaving the others out to save space.

Ooooo. 8)

I'll be watching this build, for some reason I'm attracted to these plans.

Me too, Shaun. Maybe a build documented in this forum will motivate me. 8)

I don't have enough room for good pics to show how nice the shape of this boat is and the pic provided doesn't do it justice. Once I get it welded together and it dries, I'll move it to the shop for better pics. One thing I personally did not like from the computer drawing was that it looked so straight and flat. In reality, it has a lot of rocker and a nice curvature in the sheer line to match. To me it just looks better than the drawing in real life. Even at just 14' it has a lot of volume.

NICE! I do love the looks of this boat as well. I'm glad you're building it 8) It's on my short (but seems to be growing rapidly  list)

I wanted to build this boat flipping it only once (flipping is a B#@ch for me). So, I spot welded, let it set, put wire tie cables at the top of the frames, kinda like a hinged joint., took out wire ties in hull, sides and transom after weld dried, applied 'poxy, then fillet, waited two hours, flipped the frames up out of the way with tongue depressors, taped and let frames almost all the way down, but not touching wet.

Image

Beefing up transom in case I do go with the 4 hp outboard. 98% sure I'll go that way. 3 layers inside, 2 outside plus will put some 12 oz. biax cloth inside with the 6 oz. outside.

Image

Third build and I FINALLY got nice looking fillets (for me anyway)! Even the pointy end looks good. :D

Pleased with my progress today. Since I can't have one, how about one of you guys have an ice cold Guiness for me, let me know how good it tasted! :P

I don't drink dark beer....but....since you asked....and in the interest of supporting your build...and since it is raining and I ain't going anywhere....I just happened to have one in the fridge
